Please be reminded that this Policy only applies to the data collected by us, and does not apply to the data collected by third-party products and/or services (including any third-party websites) accessed through our products and/or services and the data collected by other companies or organizations that perform advertising services in our products and/or services. Terms and Definitions
1. Canaan. means the Platform or Canaan Creative Co., Ltd. and its affiliate, the subject of ownership or operation rights to the Platform.
2. Personal data means various types of data recorded electronically or by other means that are related to an identified or identifiable natural person, excluding data that has been anonymized. The definition, scope, and identify methods of personal data shall be governed by the Personal Information Protection Law of the People's Republic of China (hereinafter referred to as the "PIPL"). For matters not stipulated in the PIPL, the provisions of GB/T 35273-2020 Information Security Technology-Personal Data Security Specification shall be applied.
3. Sensitive personal data means the data vital to personal interests, that once leaked or illegally used, is likely to result in the infringement of a natural person's dignity or harm to their personal or property safety. This includes but not limited to biometric data, religious beliefs, specific identity details, medical and health information, financial accounts, location tracking data, as well as personal data of minors under the age of fourteen. The definition, scope, and identify methods of sensitive personal data shall be governed by the PIPL. For matters not stipulated in the PIPL, the provisions of GB/T 35273-2020 Information Security Technology-Personal Data Security Specification shall be applied.
4. Personal Data Processing refers to the collection, storage, use, processing, transmission, provision, disclosure, and deletion of personal data.
5. Personal Data Processor refers to an organization or individual that independently determines the purposes and methods of processing in personal data processing activities.
6. Collection means the act of obtaining control over personal data, including information actively provided by an individual, automatic collection through interaction with an individual or recording of an individual's behavior, and indirect acquisition through sharing, transferring, and collection of publicly available information.
7. Deletion means removal of personal data from the system of daily business operations, rendering it irretrievable and inaccessible.
8. Public disclosure: refers to the act of releasing information to the public or an unspecified group of people.
9. Transfer: Refers to the process of transferring control over personal data from one personal data processor to another.
10. Sharing: refers to the process in which a personal data processor provides personal data to other personal data processors, and both parties have independent control over the personal data.
11. Anonymization: refers to the process by which personal data is processed so that it cannot identify a specific natural person and cannot be restored.
12. De-identification: refers to the process by which personal data is processed so that it cannot identify a specific natural person without the help of additional information.
13. Associated companies: refers to companies that have an affiliated relationship with each other. The affiliated relationship refers to the relationship between the company's controlling shareholder, actual controller, directors, supervisors, senior management and the enterprises directly or indirectly controlled by them, as well as other relationships that may lead to the transfer of corporate interests.
I. Personal data that Canaan may collect
The personal data collected and used by Canaan mainly includes the personal data you provided when registering and the data obtained by Canaan based on your authorization during the use of Canaan’s relevant products and/or services. When registering, you need to provide us with your mobile phone number and email address as your developer community account name. At the same time, you also need to set a password for your account. Your account and password will be encrypted and saved on the server. It is recommended that you keep the password carefully to prevent your account from being stolen by others. To facilitate your model training, we will save the datasets you upload, but these datasets may be deleted regularly according to the deadlines indicated on the website. If you need to keep them for a long time, please keep them yourself.
1.1 You provided data
(1) Your name, mobile phone number, email address and other data that you actively provide during the registration or use of Canaan's products and services.
(2) The data you upload while using Canaan’s products and/or services. This includes, but is not limited to, data sets you upload, document comments, questions, answers, and comments in the Q&A community, as well as text, images, and videos generated. In addition, it also covers files generated after processing the data sets you upload.
(3) The data you provide during your participation in online and/or offline events organized by Canaan.
1.2 Personal data collected during the use of products and services
We may collect statistical data generated when you use specific services, such as login/exit records, interaction records, and error records when you use account services. The purpose of collecting such data is to improve the services we provide to you. The type and amount of data collected depends on how you use our products and/or services. We will aggregate such data and use it after de-identification. If we use de-identified personal data in combination with your personal data subject, such data will be considered personal data during the period of combined use, and we will process and protect such data together in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
(1) Device data: When you use Canaan’s relevant products and/or services, we will collect your login device data, including device name, device model, device identification code, operating system and application version, language setting, resolution, service provider, network ID (PLMN) and other relevant data to better serve you.
(2) Log data: When you use Canaan’s products and/or services, we may automatically collect certain data through cookies or other methods and store it in web search terms, visited page addresses, user habits statistics, etc. in server logs, as well as the version data, browser, IP address data you use, and system crashes during your use of products and/or services.
(3) Location data: When you enable the device positioning function while using Canaan’s products and/or services, we may use WiFi or other technical methods to collect and process your actual locationdata, such as your whereabouts, precise location.
1.3 Before Canaan collects the types of your personal data not listed in this policy, we will obtain your consent in advance through pop-up windows on website pages or email notifications to the email address you provided to us when you registered.
1.4 The above data you provide will be continuously authorized and used by us when you use Canaan’s products and/or services. When you cancel your account, we will stop using and delete the above data after the retention period (36 months). By providing the above data, especially sensitive personal data, you may face such risks as user data leakage or user account theft, unsure personal privacy and property security, etc., but we will make every effort to avoid the above risks. If you do not agree to provide the above data to Canaan, you may not be able to register as our user or enjoy the products and/or services we provide, or it may affect your use of Canaan’s products and/or services and the quality of user experience.
II. Rules for collecting and using data by Canaan
2.1 The data collected by Canaan may be used for the following purposes
(1) The personal data you provide will be used for identity authentication, customer services, security precautions, archiving and backup during your login and use of products and services, so as to determine the uniqueness of your identity, and ensure the security of services provided by Canaan to you.
(2) Improve Canaan’s process of providing products and services, meet user’s personal requirements and enhance user experience. For example, we may collect a series of data from you in the process of questionnaire surveys and communication with the Platform customer service staff to improve customer service experience.
(3) Canaan may use your data to analyze and design new products and services within the scope permitted by laws.
(4) Other purposes agreed by you.
2.2 Rules for collecting and using data by Canaan.
(1) Canaan will take all reasonable and feasible security measures to protect user data and prevent unauthorized access, public disclosure, use, modification, damage or loss of user data.
(2) After collecting your personal data, Canaan will de-identify the data by taking technical means, so that the subject of your data cannot be identified. You hereby agree that Canaan reserves the right to analyze user database and make commercial use after the above personal data processing.
(3) You hereby agree that Canaan will continue using your data in accordance with this Policy within the valid period of your account in the case you do not cancel your account or make special settings.
(4) Canaan will collect statistics on the use of our products and/or services, and may share these statistics with the public or third parties to show the overall usage trends of our products and/or services. However, these statistics do not contain any of your personally identifiable data. When Canaan uses your data, it will take desensitization measures such as anonymization and data replacement to protect your personal privacy and data security while using your data.
(5) Canaan will obtain your consent in advance when using your data for other purposes not specified in this Policy, we will obtain your consent [in advance through pop-up windows on the website or by email to the email address you provided to us when you registered, etc.]
2.3 Please note that in the following circumstances, your consent is not required for the use of your personal data, but we will still follow the principles of legality, legitimacy, necessity and in good faith:
(1) Related to the performance of duties or obligations under laws and regulations by the personal data processors;
(2) Directly related to national security or national defense;
(3) Directly related to public security, public health or major public interests;
(4) Judicial organs or other authorities retrieve personal data under the law;
(5) In an emergency, in order to protect the life, health, property or other significant legitimate rights and interests of the personal data subjects or other individuals;
(6) The personal data collected is disclosed to the public by yourself, and such collection and processing by the personal data processor will not have a significant impact on personal rights and interests;
(7) Your personal data is collected from legally and publicly disclosed data, such as legal news reports and government data disclosure and other channels;
(8) The collecting and using of personal data are required for the signing and performance a contract at your request;
(9) Necessary for maintaining safe and stable operation of the products or services provided, such as the discovery and handling of product or service failures;
(10) The collecting and using of personal data are essential to carrying out statistics or academic research for public interests, provided that the personal data contained in the results is de-identified when it makes academic research or the descriptive results available.
III. How your personal data is shared, transferred and publicly disclosed by Canaan.
We are fully aware of the legal liabilities that we shall bear when illegal sharing, transfer, or public disclosure of personal data causes damages to an individual. For all sharing, transfer, and public disclosure of your personal data, we will strictly abide by the following terms:
3.1 We will not share your personal data with any company, organization or individual, except in the following cases:
(1) We will share your personal data with other parties if we inform you separately and obtain your explicit consent, such as through pop-up windows on website pages or by sending emails to the email address you provided to us when you registered.
(2) We may provide your personal data to third parties in accordance with laws and regulations, the need for litigation and dispute resolution, or the requests made by administrative or judiciary authorities in accordance with the law.
(3) Your personal data may be shared with Canaan’s affiliates. We will only share necessary personal data and are bound by the purpose specified in this Policy. If an affiliate intends to change the purpose of processing personal data, it will seek your authorization and consent again.
(4) If your personal data is provided to overseas recipients due to business needs, we will, in compliance with the mandatory provisions of laws and regulations, separately inform you of the name of the overseas recipient, contact information, processing purpose, processing method, type of personal data, and the way and procedure for you to exercise the rights stipulated in the Personal Information Protection Law and this Privacy Policy against the overseas recipient through a pop-up window on the website or an email notification to the email address you provided to us when you registered, and obtain your explicit consent.
(5) In order to protect the interests, property or security of Canaan, you or other Canaan users or the public from being harmed, we may share your personal data within the scope permitted by laws.
3.2 Transfer
We will not transfer your personal data to any company, organization or individual, except in the following cases:
(1) Through pop-up windows on the website or email notifications to the email address you provided to us when registering, etc., we will separately inform you the name of the data recipient, contact information, processing purpose, processing method and type of personal data, and obtain your explicit consent or authorization.
(2) We provide your personal data in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, legal procedure, mandatory administrative or judicial requirements.
(3) We provide your personal data in accordance with relevant agreements (including electronic agreements signed online and corresponding Platform rules) or other legal instruments signed with you.
(4) When the transfer of personal data is involved in a(n) merger, acquisition, asset transfer or similar transaction, we will inform you the name and contact information of the new company or organization that holds your personal data through a pop-up window on the website or by email to the email address you provided to us when you registered, etc. and require the new company or organization to continue to be bound by this Policy; otherwise we will require the new company or organization to seek your authorization and consent again.
3.3 Public disclosure
We will not publicly disclose the personal data we collect from you, except in the following circumstances:
(1) Through pop-up windows on website pages or email notifications to the email address you provided to us when registering, we obtain your consent to or authorize Canaan to disclose.
(2) In cases where your personal data are required to be provided in accordance with the requirements of laws and regulations, mandatory administrative law enforcement or judicial requirements, Canaan may publicly disclose your personal data based on the requested personal data type and the disclosure way. Under the premise of complying with laws and regulations, when Canaan receives the above request for data disclosure, we will require producing corresponding legal instruments, such as an investigation letter. Canaan will disclose your personal data on the principle of prudence to ensure that it has a legal basis and is limited to data obtained by law-enforcing departments for specific investigation purposes.
3.4 Exceptions to the authorization to share, transfer, and publicly disclose personal data:
(1) The circumstances specified in Section 2.3(1) to (7) of this Policy.
(2) Other circumstances stipulated by laws and regulations.
IV. How Canaan uses cookies and similar technologies
Cookies and similar technologies are common and general technologies on the Internet. Using cookies can help you personalize your online experience. You can accept or reject cookies. Most web browsers will automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser settings to reject cookies subject to your needs. When you use the Developer Community and relevant services, we may use relevant technologies to send one or more cookies or anonymous identifiers to your device to collect and identify data when you visit and use this service. We use cookies and similar technologies to mainly achieve the following functions and/or services:
4.1 Ensure the safe and efficient operation of products and services
Canaan may set cookies or anonymous identifiers for authentication and security, so that we can confirm whether you log in to the service safely, or whether you have encountered illegal acts such as thefts or frauds. These technologies will also help us improve the efficiency of our services and increase the speed of login and response.
4.2 Help you get an easier access experience
In order to ensure the normal operation of the website and improve the user’s personal experience, Canaan will use cookie technology to allow the website server to store data on the client or read data from the client. The data processed by cookies generally need to be encrypted. Cookie technology will improve your user experience.
4.3 Display and push contents that you may be interested in
Canaan may use cookies and similar technologies to understand your preferences and using habits, perform consultations or data analysis to improve product services and user experience. Canaan hereby covenants that we will not use cookies for any purpose other than those specified in this Policy and the Cookie Policy.
4.4 Clearing of cookies
You can choose to delete cookies or manage cookies subject to your needs, or configure your browser: select "Reject Cookies" or "Notify you when a website sends cookies." but when you take measures such as deletion, the information you previously recorded will be deleted, and you need to change user settings every time you log in, which may have a certain impact on the security and user experience when you use Canaan’s products and/or services.
V. How your personal data is protected and stored by Canaan.
5.1 Data security technical measures
(1) Canaan has taken security protection measures that conform to industry standards, including establishing reasonable system specifications and security technologies to prevent your personal data from being unauthorized access, use, modification, and data damage or loss.
(2) For the network services provided, Canaan has taken HTTPS and other methods to provide browsing services to ensure the security of user data during transmission. We will use security technologies and procedure to monitor and record network operation status and network security incidents, and take necessary technical measures to ensure network security to prevent data loss, improper use, unauthorized reading or disclosure.
(3) Canaan will adopt strict data access control and multi-identity authentication technology to protect personal data and prevent data from being used in violation of laws and regulations.
5.2 Strictly restrict access
Canaan only allows its staff members who need to know your personal data to access to your personal data, and has set up strict access control and monitoring mechanisms for such purpose. We also require all personnel who may have access to your personal data to fulfill corresponding confidentiality obligations. If they fail to fulfill these obligations, they may be held legally liable.
5.3 We will take all reasonable and feasible measures to ensure that no irrelevant personal data is collected. Unless we obtain your written permission, we will retain your personal data for thirty-six months after you delete or cancel your account. We will anonymize or destroy your personal data after the above period.
5.4 The contents and data (such as event photos and other data) you provide, upload or publish when using Canaan’s products and services may reveal your personaldata. Before using the above service process, you shall carefully consider whether to accept the relevant services provided by Canaan.
5.5 The Internet is not an absolutely secure network environment, and it cannot be determined whether the communication modes with other users such as E-mail, instant messaging, social software, etc. are completely encrypted. Canaan recommends that you use complex passwords when using such tools, and pay attention to protecting your personal data. Otherwise, you will be solely liable for the loss of passwords or information leakage for your own reasons.
5.6 Security incident handling
(1) In view of the risks of personal data leakage, damage and loss, Canaan has established a number of security systems to clarify the categories and levels of security incidents and security vulnerabilities, and formulated relevant processing procedure. Also, Canaan has established a special emergency response team to initiate security counterplans for different security incidents in accordance with the company’s relevant security incident handling specifications, and to conduct stop losses, analyze, formulate remedial measures, and cooperate with relevant departments to trace and crack down.
(2) In the event of a security incident, Canaan will, in accordance with the requirements of laws and regulations, promptly inform you of the basic situation and possible impact of the security incident (including the types and causes of personal data leakage, tampering, or loss that has or may occur), the disposal measures that have been taken or will be taken, and the suggestions that you can independently prevent and reduce risks, the remedial measures to be taken, etc. We will also inform you of the incident in a timely manner by E-mail, push notification, etc. If it is difficult to inform individual one by one, we will publish an announcement in a reasonable and effective manner. Also, we will actively report the handling of personal data security incidents in accordance with the requirements of the regulatory authorities.

6.1 Canaan attaches great importance to the protection of your personal data, and makes every effort to protect your rights to access, correct, delete and withdraw consent to personal data within the scope permitted by laws, so that you can fully safeguard your privacy and security. Your rights include:
(1) Access to and copy your personal data
Unless otherwise required by judiciary or administrative authorities, you reserve the right to access your personal data through the channels published on each product and service page of Canaan. If you are unable to access through the above methods, you can contact us at any time and we will respond to your request as soon as possible.
(2) Amend your personal data
When you find that the personal data you fill in or your personal data we process is wrong, you reserve the right to amend it by yourself, but the amendment of relevant information may affect your use of relevant products or services or the realization of some functions. When you are unable to amend by yourself, you can contact us at any time rough the contact information listed in Article IX of this Policy, and we will respond to your request as soon as possible.
(3) Delete your personal data
You reserve the right to delete by yourself or contact us to delete your personal data at any time without violating laws, regulations and this policy. You can request us to delete your personal data in the following cases:

(b) We collect and use your personal data without obtaining your consent;
(c) Our handling of personal data violates our agreement with you;
(d) You no longer use our products or services, or you have cancelled your account;

If our decision to respond to your deletion request, we will also notify the entities that have obtained your personal data from Canaan in a cooperative manner and request them to delete the same in a timely manner, unless these entities obtain your independent authorization. However, please be aware that if your public data on Canaan is captured, cached, stored, copied, or uploaded and saved on other websites by other users or independent third parties that are not cooperating with or associated with us, or not under our control, or uploaded or saved by other users on other websites, the relevant data will not be under the control of Canaan.
Please understand that when you delete some of your personal data by yourself or contact us, you only cancel the public display of the corresponding data. We may not be able to immediately clear the corresponding data from the backup system, and we still need to store the corresponding data in accordance with laws and regulations until it can be cleared from the backup system or anonymized.
If we stop operations due to mismanagement and other reasons, we will immediately stop the collection of your corresponding personal data and delete the personal data already collected.
(4) Change the scope of your authorization or withdraw your authorization
Each business function requires some basic personal data for completion. For the collection and use of additional personal data, you can grant or withdraw your authorization and consent at any time. You can contact us through the contact information listed in Article IX of this Policy to change the scope of your authorization or withdraw your authorization. We will no longer process the corresponding personal data after you withdraw your consent. However, your decision to withdraw your consent will not affect the previous personal data processing based on your authorization.
(5) Cancel/delete account
You can apply for cancelling relevant accounts through the contact information specified in Article IX hereof. We will determine whether you meet the cancellation conditions based on your account security status and product service information. After you cancel your account, Canaan will stop providing you with product or service functions in connection with your account, and will delete or anonymize your personal data, unless otherwise required by laws and regulations or at your request.
6.2 Respond to your above request
If you are unable to access, amend, or delete your personal data, or you need to access, amend, or delete other personal data generated when using Canaan’s products and/or services, or you believe that Canaan has any violation of laws and regulations or any agreement with you regarding the collection or use of personal data, you can contact us through the contact information specified in Article IX hereof. To ensure security, you may be required to provide a written request or otherwise prove your identity. We may request you to verify your identity before processing your request. We will give a reply within fifteen business days. If you are not satisfied, you can also make a complaint through the following channels: Sending an E-mail to [Developersupport@canaan-creative.com]. For your reasonable request, we do not charge generally, but for repeated requests that exceed a reasonable limit, we will charge certain costs as the case may be. We may refuse requests that are unreasonably repeated, require too many technical means (for example, the need to develop new systems or fundamentally change existing practices), bring risks to the legitimate rights and interests of others, or are very impractical (for example, involving data stored on backup tapes).
In accordance with laws and regulations, we will not be able to respond to your requests in the following cases:
(1) The circumstances specified in Article2.3 (1) to (7) of this Policy;
(2) Other circumstances prescribed by laws and regulations;
VII. Data protection for minors
7.1 We will process your sensitive personal data only when it has a specific purpose and is necessary and strict protection measures are in place. We will inform you separately about the types of sensitive personal data collected, the necessity of processing your sensitive personal data, and the impact on your personal rights and interests through pop-up windows on website pages or email notifications to the email address you provided to us when registering, and only after obtaining your consent.
If you are a minor under the age of 18, you are required to read and agree to this Policy under the supervision and guidance of your parents or other guardians before using the Canaan Developer Community and relevant services. Canaan will protect the personal data of minors in accordance with relevant national laws and regulations, and only collect, use, store, share, transfer or disclose the personal data of minors when permitted by law, with the explicit consent of parents or other guardians, or necessary to protect minors. VIII. Amendment and update of this Policy
8.1 This Policy will be amended and updated accordingly with the continuous development of Canaan and law and regulations are amended from time to time. The revised and updated Policy will be announced on the Canaan website and mobile client after its amendment and update, and the changes will be prompted in a pop-up box or a way that is as significant as the pop-up box. We will notify and explain major changes through E-mails or special reminders on the page, etc.
8.2 By continuing using Canaan’s products and services, you shall be deemed to have agreed to be bound by this the amended and updated Policy. Otherwise, please stop using Canaan’s relevant products and services immediately.
